A few weeks ago, the FDA announced a recall of Doxycycline Capsules for a number of different ingredients. The company’s website stated, “As a result of the recall, we are discontinuing the use of Doxycycline Capsules.”
The website claims that “Doxycycline Capsules have been recalled for their ingredients which may contain ingredients known as ‘Doxy’”.
This recall was originally expected to be done by Novo Nordisk’s Doxycycline Capsules, but there was no notification of the actual date.
As you can see from the link, the FDA has also put out an alert that the label on the package may not always contain the full amount of Doxycycline Capsules. However, they will not be making any changes to the product’s label until the recall is complete.
The company says the recall was “unreasonably likely” to cause a higher number of injuries and illnesses.
The recall was stopped because it was “not medically necessary” for the product. As you can see from the description of the package, the FDA’s alert says the product is manufactured with doxycycline, and it is not for use by children. It will continue to be marketed as a safe and effective drug.
